Flint. Aaron. Bertha. Lucian.
Riley.
Anyone…
Where were they? How could she find them? Cynthia couldn’t simply leave her home and family behind, but she wanted to search for her friends. She wanted to know if they were all okay. Last time she saw them, it had been a few days since the event. Though Riley, they were together when it happened. In Lake Verity. Cynthia looked down at her hands with a solemn expression. She remembered that night and the days after perfectly and longed for his gentle touch again.
Cynthia let out a dejected sigh as she reached for her coat laying across her bed, “I’m going out for a little while. Grandfather, Grandmother, Cam. Stay inside and stay safe, all right?” Before she could leave, she felt a tugging on her coat. It was her little sister, “I’m going with you. Come on, I’m old enough! I can take care of myself!” Cynthia patted the girls head, “No. You have to look after these two. Please? I am counting on you…” Cam puffed out her cheeks and pouted, “Fiiiiine. Can you find some chocolate though~?” Cynthia laughed, and patted her sister’s head once more, “Sure I can. I’ll be back soon….I love you.” With that she was out the door.
Cynthia made her way through the ship, down to a bar where she sat in her favorite place at the back of the room. Not to drink, but to merely watch as the other customers make fools of themselves. Ever since the event, there had not been a lot to do, so she found this to be entertaining. Cynthia hated how she would sit in here, rather than look for an alternative way to spend her time. Like trying to save the world for one thing. She desperately wanted to, but something was pulling her back. Doubt? No, that wasn’t it. She slammed her fist on the table and mumbled, “Perhaps I should join Project Purity….”
Before the event, Lucian avoided bars. The atmosphere in most bars simply did not appeal to him. Now Lucian went to various bars almost every night. Bars were the best places to pick up valuable information. Lucian also enjoyed watching drunk people’s attempts at singing in karaoke contests. He walked into his favorite bar, and looked for somewhere to sit. Lucian spotted someone familiar sitting in the back of the room.
“Is that really…”
The young women strongly resembled Lucian’s good friend Cynthia. He had been looking for his friends constantly for the past couple of months. Lucian quickly walked over to the young woman’s side.”Cynthia, I’m so happy that you made it here safely.” He smiled. “Oh, I’m terribly sorry. You look just like my friend Cynthia.”
